This Privacy Policy explains how Hanzi Coach (the "App") handles information when you use the App.
Information You Create in the App
Handwriting images, selected Chinese characters, worksheet information, scores, practice records, and app settings are processed and stored locally on your device. The App does not require an account or sign-in, and this practice content is not uploaded to a Hanzi Coach server.
Camera and Photo Library
The App may request access to your camera so you can photograph a completed handwriting worksheet for scoring. It may request access to your photo library so you can select a worksheet image or save a result image when you choose to do so.
Camera and photo library access is used only for features you initiate. Handwriting images are processed on the device for scoring and are not provided to Google for advertising.
Advertising and Consent
The App uses Google AdMob to provide optional rewarded advertisements. Core character selection, worksheet creation, scoring, saving, and practice-history features do not require you to watch an advertisement.
The App also uses Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) to present consent or privacy choices where required. Depending on your region, device settings, consent choices, and Google's services, Google may process information such as device or advertising identifiers, IP-address-derived general location, advertising data, app interactions, diagnostics, and performance data.
The App may generate an anonymous identifier stored on your device and use it for rewarded-ad verification. This identifier does not contain your name, email address, handwriting content, or other direct contact information.

Tracking and Personalized Advertising
The current version of the App does not request permission to track you across apps and websites owned by other companies. The App's advertising configuration is intended not to use data for personalized advertising. Google may still process limited data to deliver, measure, prevent fraud in, and maintain advertising services, subject to applicable law and your privacy choices.
Data Retention and Deletion
Practice content and settings stored locally remain on your device until you delete them through available app features or delete the App. Deleting the App removes its locally stored data, except information that may remain in device backups or system-managed storage.
Information processed by Google is retained and deleted according to Google's policies and your applicable privacy choices. You may contact us using the address below if you have a privacy question or request.
Children's Privacy
The App is not offered as an app in Apple's Kids category. We do not knowingly collect names, email addresses, or other direct contact information from children through a Hanzi Coach account or server because the App does not provide an account system or a Hanzi Coach cloud service.
Security
We use the platform's security features and limit the App's data handling to what is needed for its functions. However, no device, storage method, or electronic service can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the App's features, third-party services, or data practices change. Any updated policy will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
